Mission, Vision & Structure

Mission Statement
Broadmoor Presbyterian Church is called by God to Love, Serve, Worship and Grow as a community of faith in Jesus Christ.

Vision Statement
God challenges us:
To LOVE the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength and our neighbors as ourselves;

To SERVE the Lord with gladness and to share God’s blessings with the world, especially those who suffer from need or abuse;

To WORSHIP the Lord by lifting our hearts in praise, making a joyful noise to our rock and our redeemer and gathering around the “watchposts” of the Reformed tradition: the font, the table and the pulpit;

And to GROW in faith through the study of God’s word and the use of our gifts and talents as disciples of
the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mission Structure
In Presbyterianism, the session is the governing body of the local church. Made up of elders—men and women elected by the congregation and ordained into the work of leadership—the session guides the congregation in its work.

At Broadmoor Presbyterian Church much of the work of the session is done by four ministries which correspond with the vision statement of the congregation:
Love of Christ Ministry: The purpose of this ministry is to guide the congregation in its efforts “to serve the Lord with gladness and to share God’s blessings with the world, especially those who suffer from need or abuse.” The work of this ministry will focus on reaching beyond the congregation and into the world.

Serve Ministry: The purpose of this ministry is to guide the congregation as it seeks “to love the Lord our God with all heart, mind, soul, and strength and our neighbors as ourselves.” In this case, loving the Lord with all we have means responsibly caring for and offering back to God all that God has given us to demonstrate good stewardship of all resources in the congregation’s care.
Worship Ministry: The purpose of this ministry is to guide the congregation as it strives “to worship the Lord by lifting our hearts in praise, making a joyful noise to our rock and our redeemer and gathering around the ‘watchposts’ of the Reformed tradition: the font, the table and the pulpit.” The responsibility of this ministry is to provide for a diverse worship life including opportunities for small groups and private times of prayer and reflection.

Growing Through Faith and Community Ministry: The purpose of this ministry is to guide the congregation as it seeks “to grow in faith through the study of God’s word and the use of our gifts and talents as disciples of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” In this case, growth involves the educational life of the congregation as well as fellowship and community-building activities focused on life within the congregation.
